Destination Management and Incoming Tourism (YE0338 | 2025)
Throughout this course, students are introduced to the field of tourism destination management and explore how destinations are strategically planned, branded, and marketed to attract visitors and investment, generate employment, and support the social and economic well-being of local communities.
Tourism destinations are evolving rapidly in response to global challenges such as overtourism, climate change, and technological innovation. No longer defined solely as places for leisure, business, or travel consumption, destinations are increasingly understood as complex systems that must balance competitiveness with sustainability. This course emphasises emerging approaches such as regenerative tourism, community-based initiatives, and responsible destination management practices that aim to protect both people and places while ensuring long-term destination resilience.
